This book sets out to explore two questions. First, it investigates the impact on the Islamic world (Dār al-Islām) of the campaigns of conquest by the armies of Temüjin, better known as Chinggis Khan (d. ), and his first three successors, under whom the empire of the Mongols (or Tatars, as they were often termed) came to embrace all the Muslim territories east of Syria and the Byzantine. This teacher resource book and student text is part of a continuing series on current and historical international issues, placing special emphasis on the importance of educating students in their participatory role as citizens. The unit draws students into the international debate about how to respond to the imperialism that brutally disfigured the Congo in the lateth and earlyth : Paul Cunningham.
